Governor Samuel Ortom has restated the resolve of his administration to continue to support democratic structures as a way forward to ensure the sustenance of democracy in the state.

The Governor stated this today at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi during a courtesy call on him by the Chairman and Commissioners as well as other members of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, BESIEC.

He stated that as soon as the State Executive Council was constituted, funds would be approved and released to the commission for the conduct of elections at the third tier of government.

The Governor urged the commission to put necessary arrangements in place for the conduct of the elections as soon as funds were made available, stressing that funds were also being sourced to secure utility vehicles for commissioners and other management staff of the commission for ease of movement.

Governor Ortom directed the commission to involve capable hands in assessing the condition of the broken vehicles of the 23 area offices of the commission for rehabilitation so that they could be put to use again.

He encouraged the commission to do its best to also add value to the development of the state through the conduct of credible elections, stressing that Benue belongs to all and it behoves on everyone to justify the confidence reposed in him or her.

Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Joseph Loko Tersoo said the commission was ready for the conduct of elections at the third tier of government , stressing that BESIEC had been reorganised and repositioned to give Benue people the best.

He appealed for the release of funds from the budget meant for the commission in order to kick start preparations for the conduct of council elections, provision of utility vehicles for BESIEC commissioners and for the 23 area offices to ease their operations
