By Amina Yahaya

Gombe Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has forwarded the name of Dr. Husseina Danjuma Goje, daughter of Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje and 17 others as commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly.

In a letter read by the Speaker, Abubakar Sadiq Kurba, during plenary, the Governor also nominated Senator Goje’s son in-law, Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo Waziri, as a commissioner.

Goje, who governed the State between 2003 and 2011, and is the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, has played a key role in the election that brought Governor Yahaya to power last March. The Governor was also Goje’s Commissioner for Finance for seven years – 2003 to 2010.

Other nominees were Dr. Ahmad Gana; Dr. Aishatu Usman Maigari, Barrister Zubairu Mohammed Umar, Mohammed Magaji Gettado, Mr Julius Ishaya, Mrs. Naomi Joel Awak, Engineer Abubakar Bappah and Muhammad Gambo Maigari.

Also nominated were Mallam Usman Jahun Biri, Alhaji Adamu Dishi, Alhaji Ibrahim Alhassan, Dr. Habu Dahiru, Dauda Batari Zambuk, Mijinyawa Yahaya, Mela Audu Nunge and Meshak Lanco.

Four of the nominees – Dr. Gana, Magaji Gettado, Zubairu Umar and Engineer Bappah – are former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who defected to the governing APC on the eve of the 2019 elections. We have gathered that the House will release a timetable for screening of the nominees on Wednesday.
