Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has left to attend a security meeting at Maradi, in Niger Republic.
The meeting is being organised by the Niger Republic authorities to discuss issues of border security and banditry between Niger Republic and the following States: Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto and Katsina that have borders with the Niger Republic.
Other issues expected to be discussed include the 25,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), living in Maradi, who are Nigerian citizens.
The meeting will also dwell on how to end banditry activities affecting Nigeria and Niger Republic, especially through the participating states.
The Governor’s entourage includes the State Commissioner of Police, Commander 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Gusau, Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Director, State Security Service.
The Governor will return to the State on 9th September, 2019.
