Governor of Zamfara State, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawallen Maradun, has reiterated his commitment to youth empowerment towards encouraging self reliance in the State.
The Governor reiterated his stand today, Thursday, when he visited the State Skills Acquisition Centre at Gidan Dawa, Gusau, the State capital.
He stated that his administration will not relent in addressing unemployment among the teeming youth and women, which is why he is moving around various investors within and outside the country so that technology and other know-how can be stepped down through the training of indigenes of the State, with a view to preparing them to stand on their own and even train or employ upcoming generations in the future.
The Governor assured that the State Government will give pick-up packages to all the trainees of such centres so that they can fully establish their own businesses at the end of their training.
The Governor who visited the abandoned departments of the centre, promised to rehabilitate all the existing structures, as well as bringing in new equipments so as to meet the challenges ahead.
During the visit, the Governor visited the several departments in the acquisition centre, like the Carpentry, Cinematography, Welding, Auto Mechanic, Panel beating, Spraying, Computer, Knitting and Tailoring departments led by the Commissioner for Youths Development and Sports, Alhaji Abdulkadir Buhari, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Skills Acquisition, Hajiya Amina Iliyasu.
