Bauchi governor, Bala Mohammed, has tested positive for coronavirus.
This is according to a release by the Bauchi State government, signed by Senior Special Assistant (Media), Mukhtar Gididado.
Governor Mohammed returned to the country from his working visit to Germany, a high incidence COVID-19 country last Friday after holding series of meeting with prospective investors in the Europian country.
He arrived in Berlin ,Germany Thursday Morning 12th March , 2020 an on arrival , the Governor paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republlic of Nigeria Yusuf Maitama Tuggar at the Nigerian embassy in Berlin where he commended the ambassador for his patriotism and commitment to the development of Bauchi State.
In his other engagements in Germany, Bala Mohammed had bilateral meetings with captains of industry from various parts of Germany including Dr Nader Imani of Festor Didactic; Mr Obert Mirko, Managing Director of Imagination First; Mr Udo Schroer, CEO of Belowsys GmbH, as well as Mrs Mary Bruder, CEO of BruderHilfe Society Development Foundation who donated 90 units of Mobility Carts to Bauchi state to assist disabled persons move easily and be gainfully employed.
On the entourage of the governor to Germany were the Honourable Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources , Hon Sama’ila Burga, a veteran broadcaster and one time Member House of Representative, Hon Ahmed Yarima and Professor Sani Malami , Special Adviser on Multilateral Affairs.
Meanwhile there is currently, a high sense of worry amongst Nigerian elites as the governor was said to have attended several public gatherings including National Economic Council and Nigeria Governors Forum meetings since his return.
Nigerians are now calling on those who have had contact with the governor to immediately go into self isolation while submitting themselves to be tested for COVID-19
